TrainSmart is a free workout app: structured gym programs you can follow day by day, with an animated demonstration of every exercise. It's made by a small independent team who train and build software, for people who want a clear plan instead of guesswork.
What you'll find here
- Programs. Four complete plans, from a 3-day full-body routine for beginners to a 5-day split, with sets, reps and rest for every exercise. You can follow them in the app and tick off each set as you go.
- An exercise library. Hundreds of exercises with the muscles they work and a looping demonstration. A growing number have an in-depth guide written by our editorial team: how to do the exercise, what you should feel, common mistakes, and easier and harder versions.
- Health articles. Plain-language articles about everyday healthy habits, such as walking, sleep, mobility and strength, based on trusted sources.
How we make our content
- Programs follow well-established training principles: balance pushing and pulling, train each muscle group regularly, and add a little weight or a rep or two once a session gets easier.
- Exercise guides are written from scratch by TrainSmart Editorial and reviewed before they're published. If none of our programs uses an exercise, the guide says so.
- Health articles are researched from public health bodies and peer-reviewed studies, cite their sources, and are reviewed and dated. Our editorial policy explains the whole process.
- The exercise demonstrations come from the open Free Exercise DB project and are served from our own site.
What TrainSmart isn't
TrainSmart offers general fitness information, not medical advice. We don't diagnose, treat or sell supplements. If you have pain, an injury or a health condition, check with a health professional before starting a new program.
Languages and privacy
The app is available in 10 languages, and our guides and articles in 7. You don't need an account: your progress is saved in your browser on your own device. We use Google Analytics to see which pages and features people use, so we can improve them.
